We Are Green Ritual

We fight for the Earth by filling your daily routines with eco-friendly versions of the products we throw away far too often.

Let's start with the toothbrush. A billion plastic toothbrushes are thrown out in the US every year. Plastic is made of crude oil, which we all know wreaks havoc on the environment when extracted from the ground. Plastic toothbrushes take about a thousand years to decompose, meaning the very first plastic toothbrush ever made is still out there somewhere.

Bamboo is the perfect alternative to plastic. A single stalk of bamboo can grow up to a meter per day, and when farmed responsibly, takes just 3 years to reach harvesting maturity. Bamboo is biodegradable and will decompose within 4 to 6 months in a home compost pile—3 years if simply buried out in the backyard. Bamboo is also known to capture carbon dioxide and emit oxygen faster than hardwood trees.

Our bamboo toothbrushes are FSC-certified, meaning the bamboo comes from sustainably managed bamboo forests. While this costs more, it's worth it to us to know we aren't doing more harm than good by offering our products.

Alongside toothbrushes, we took a closer look at toothpaste—toothpaste tubes to be exact. Toothpaste doesn't have to be stored in a disposable plastic tube. By using toothpaste tablets instead, we can store them in reusable glass jars. If you don't have one lying around, we offer a sleek and 100% recycled glass jar free with your first subscription order of our Nelson Naturals toothpaste tablets.

Finally, we get to toilet paper. Traditional toilet paper is made from hardwood trees, which to date, have never been harvested sustainably at a commercial level. Hardwood trees can take up to 100 years to fully grow to maturity, making it a poor choice if you care about oxygen in our atmosphere. Like our toothbrushes, our bamboo toilet paper is made of fast-growing and FSC-certified bamboo, so you don't have to worry about a rapidly depleting source.

Together, our products form the basis of an eco-friendly routine that just makes sense—a green ritual. We hope you enjoy our products and knowing that your daily routine just got way more sustainable.
